Most of you will have been over the Picciola Bridge which spans the Dead River and Lake Griffin on a ride out to the Methodist Camp on Picciola Island.

My name is Allan Broadribb, I am the author of this blog and live in The Villages in central Florida where I am a member of the Sumter Landing Bicycle Club and The Village Bicycle Club. I have created this blog primarily as an archive of the articles I have written for the SLBC's newsletter "Roundabout The Villages" which are generally about the history of the area for the column "The Past We Ride Past".

In the summer of '21 however I wrote some articles about our annual travels in France where my wife, Jocelyne, tolerates the two or three days a week I take out to ride. So in addition to continuing "The Past We Ride Past" I'll likely be adding some tales about other rides present and past.
